Fading

Summer is over.

Rays of warmth are departing,

not to return for many months.

The days and nights get colder

until chill courses my bones

that refuse to carry me.

I sit in torn armchair

in tattered overcoat,

wrapped in blankets

and do not know

if I will see the spring.
