Faith
Fuel unseen
known intimately like blood,
gusts not burning
but saving…
tears flurry within them
never extinguishing them,
one overwhelming surge:
love–
when not divided or hoarded,
another word for “faith”.
Jesus
My pursuer
through the pain and anger
that nailed You back on that wood;
my resurrection
from self-imposed deaths;
my deep-sighed confession
that You are my Lord and Savior;
my freshwater sea
cradling the renewal of my baptism;
my confirmation
that I and my life
have always been Yours.
The sin
Born and trapped in my mind,
leaking to only one gesture,
fulfilled,
a stinging prophecy
run down my face
in gentle rivulets…
it is finally lost
from that river and prostration
as pain held by Love
finishes teaching
and ready when You say,
I return to You,
enfolded and saved.
Jordan River Crossing
Before our people, Yehoshua,
You part the Jordan
in which You would be baptized:
the water a wall
but no wall between
footsteps on the riverbed
carrying the Ark–
Your Commandments of love–
and You, Adonai, Yeshua…
no wall between
my inheritance and faith,
Your miracle and promise.
