Watch the Birdy
The day after spring
I saw a young Robin,
a perky handsome lad
who didn’t want to be looked at.
I love to watch birds
so I looked at him,
which he didn’t appreciate,
giving me angry glances.
I didn’t want to upset him
but my need to see him
intruded on his privacy
and he flew off,
squawking bird imprecations
for the interruption.
