The Dog No One Wants
I’m not talking about a Yorkie, a teacup
Chihuahua or any of those fancy breeds,
but the dog at the shelter no one wants,
and not because it bites, stinks, sheds.
Only the workers know of this dog’s pros
and cons, even they hardly know,
inundated as they are. Nothing
in this medium sized dog stands out.
It’s overlooked by people. Who needs it?
Just go in any say give me the dog
no one wants, the one no one notices.
They come in, look, walk out with a dog
to care for. Care for that, go against
the grain. Be different, after all you are
different; there’s only one you. That dog
most overlooked, that’s been there longest,
that’s the one, the fit companion
for the needy, caring person you are.
