Polaroid

for Stephanie

Able to walk ahead

I leave my wife

in her wheelchair, an afterthought

isolated. Looking back

now I see her: gently

fragrant, slowly

blurry, like a separated, quiet

golden acacia blossom

stirring in time’s uncatchable current,

considering the unknown

before us: a void

beyond the changing clear

cold river’s reflections.
