Quiet Noises
whispers
of no man’s land
they sit between
thumb / forefinger
gap in your teeth
even braces couldn’t bridge
want me to talk of hearts
make them anatomical
make them an engine
metal driving pistons
think of me
train-like not race-car
hauling bracing smoking
beauty that did not last
our golden age
a revolution
of what is easy to draw
what has been torn out
ragged as a coupon
light as a feather
I hope
as you lay there
beating bleeping
bleeping beating
two hearts
one machine
at war
