The Prophet of Regret (#12): Everything is the Way it is Supposed to Be.
So many apologies are
underfunded,
underweight,
spoken only to change the story.
It is better to cry in silence,
or pretend to be the victim,
than it is to speak out loud.
I drove past your old house
and of course, you were not there.
You are long gone and far away and
never coming back, but there is a young
family in there now and children
are running through a sprinkler
on the lawn and their excitement
and their joy follows
after me as I drive away and
I want you to know,
like the car and the road and
the happiness of children at play know,
that everything is the way
it is supposed to be.
