Surprise

Should one count days?

Hours, you’ve tried

They break hearts

Weeks start

You cannot feel

The air you breathe

Suddenly,

They’re months

You lose control

You lose your balance

A world comes down

When you wanted

Doors to open

Or walls to crumble

The missiles of time

Never miss

Suddenly,

You run out of them

All gone

Your time is off

Windows shut

Bars stronger

You inside

Them somewhere

Where you’re not

And never will be

Suddenly,

You’re “without”

You can feel it

Like the air you breathe

Lungs burning

Too much oxygen

You want to be small

Smaller

To cope

With loss

With too much skin

With not enough words

What is this little thing

Called

PAIN?

Suddenly,

You’re full of questions

Suddenly,

You know the answers

Will never be enough

Suddenly,

You know

Enough is the saddest word
